When it comes to Lyme Disease, timing is crucial!

\nThis past Thanksgiving, while visiting a friend in Ottawa, we hiked with our dog in the backwoods behind our friend\u2019s home. While we did not realize it right away, we had all gotten bitten by deer ticks. Fortunately my husband and I found ours early the next day. I decided to go to the emergency area of the hospital, just to be safe.
\nWe got the ticks off properly and breathed a sigh of relief. Why am I telling you all this? Because deer ticks can carry Lyme disease. And you do NOT want to get Lyme disease because it has the potential to turn your health and life completely upside down..and not in a good way.<\/p>\n
So here are some key points to keep in mind:<\/p>\n
1. The sooner you get a tick off you properly the better. There is a window of about 36 hours, where the chances of contracting LYME from an infected tick is pretty minimal.<\/p>\n
2. If you are bitten and you think you may have Lyme, you want to get treated as soon as possible. Typically this will be with a course of antibiotics. But the key is early treatment.<\/p>\n
3. There is also a homeopathic protocol to use if you or your pet have been bitten, which is easy to follow and has proven to be effective. I will leave a link below if you want to know more.<\/p>\n
4. Always check yourself and your pets if you have been out in more wooded or grassy areas. The number of deer ticks carrying Lyme has exploded in the Ottawa\/Perth area and infected ticks are starting to show up here in the Toronto area.<\/p>\n
I am telling you all this not to scare you, but to inform you and inspire you to learn more. There is a lot of good information online about ticks and LYME disease. Take the time to be informed. A good offence is the best defense!<\/p>\n
