What is naturopathy?

Naturopathic doctors integrate standard medical diagnostics with a broad range of natural therapies. Naturopathic medicine plays an important role in integrative health care. It supports the body’s own healthy ability using treatments and prevention strategies that include acupuncture, botanical medicine, physical medicine, clinical nutrition, homeopathic medicine and lifestyle counseling.

What is the difference between naturopathy and homeopathy?

The main difference between them is the type of medicines used. Homeopathy uses solely homeopathic remedies (some of the examples are chamomile, St.John’s wort) while naturopathy uses a variety of medicines, including homeopathy, but also botanical medicine, clinical nutrition, physical medicine and lifestyle counseling.

Is Naturopathy covered by OHIP?

Naturopathic Doctors are not covered by O.H.I.P. However, most employers extended healthcare plans will cover visits for Naturopathy. Check with your employer or insurance company about your eligibility for Naturopathic coverage.

For your convenience, Junction Health will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement or via Direct billing.
