What to Expect

You are in pain and aren’t really sure what to expect. It’s ok – we are here to help you feel better! Normally, the first time you come in, the doctor will take a look at you and perform a full clinical examination. From there the doctor will be able to set up a treatment plan, refer you to another health care practitioner for your own needs or simply send you home to get some rest. The initial exam is usually divided into the following areas:

1. Patient History and Symptoms

2. Assessment and Orthopaedic Examination

3. Diagnostic Studies

In order to respect practitioner’s time and to offer fair availability to all of our patients, we kindly ask for 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment.  Missing a scheduled appointment means that someone else in need, did not get a chance to receive help. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours prior will be charged 50% of service fee to the account. If you did not show up or call to cancel your confirmed appointment, 100% service fee will be applied.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Will OHIP cover my visits for chiropractic and/or physiotherapy?

Prior to 2004, OHIP offered some physiotherapy coverage and most chiropractic coverage to all Ontarians. Since that time, OHIP does not cover chiropractic and has been restricted for physiotherapy to persons 65 and over, 19 and younger, those receiving benefits under the Ontario Disability Support Program or Family Works, residents of long term care homes or persons who require physiotherapy to treat a condition for which they have stayed in hospital overnight.

If you do qualify, you must seek out one of the few OHIP registered clinics in Ontario. Since current OHIP reimbursement levels for physiotherapy service is very low, the type of rehabilitation services offered by these clinics is accordingly restricted.

Junction Health works closely with the community and has an extensive referral network including several OHIP registered physiotherapy clinics in the Junction/Bloor West Village areas.

Do I need a referral from MD to see Doctors of Chiropractic or Naturopathy?

No, Medical Doctor referral is not necessary.
